James asks…

What are the benefits of pregnenolone? Cause i ordered some today!?

I’ve read about the benefits from 5 different articles but its better if you tell me what you’ve experienced taking it or something you know about it. some people may say it doesn’t work but many ppl also said Dhea and tribulus don’t work but they worked great for me.
Thanks Susan! It almost sounds like a wonder drug!! Guess i made the right choice!

Helen answers:

Pregnenolone has been shown to enhance several aspects of neurological functioning, including cognitive benefits such as enhancing learning and memory, and motor-nerve effects such as improved psychomotor performance. Pregnenolone has been used to benefit connective tissue disorders such as lupus and autoimmune/rheumatoid arthritis. As a neurohormone, pregnenolone has a powerful effect on improving transmission of nerve impulses which may enhance memory relay pathways. Pregnenolone may allow skin cells to contract, restoring firmness to slack skin. Pregnenolone has been able to quickly cause other rapid anatomical changes which may be from eliminating edema (water retention), such as helping protruding eyes (as in Graves’ disease) to recede, or helping joint cartilage to function normally without pain, or causing lungs to oxygenate the blood more efficiently in people with emphysema.

William asks…

Does Graves Opthalmopathy (TED) ever go away without treatment?

I’ve had steroids, radiation, waiting 1 year. My eyes are red, tearing constantly, and bulgy. My thyroid is normal w/meds.

Helen answers:

Progression of the disease usually stops on its own within a 2-year period and it rarely recurs. Mild symptoms may completely self-resolve, but treatment may be necessary to restore eyelid function, improve appearance, and correct vision.
Though you are suffering a lot & I feel sorry for you, but consolation is that you have not developed more serious complications like Glaucoma.
One factor is smoking, it worsens the condition. So, if you are a smoker, you may try quitting that.
This site will give you more info. & they invite questions too-

George asks…

How to be psychically prepared to the rapture?

bank accounts, house, investments, pets, messages to the family etc

Helen answers:

Worldly things won’t matter much once the Rapture does occur, on May 21. For one thing, the Great Earthquake which will precede it will virtually wreck the world’s infrastructure, rendering computer systems and the Internet useless. Credit cards and electronic transactions may not be usable from that time forward. For those who you feel are unsaved it might be advisable to pull cash out prior to the catching up. Food supplies will become scarce as markets and roads collapse and that will drive prices up sharply. Think $100.00 or more for a quart of milk or a loaf of bread. No doubt many governments will try to intervene to restore order, but many will not, and those that do may have only limited success. As each day goes by the situation in the world will grow more desperate. It will be the worst five months on planet Earth, since it began.

Oil and gas pipelines will rupture and cause massive fires. You saw the refinery in Japan burning after the Fukushima quake and this scene will be repeated everywhere that such facilities are located. No doubt many nuclear reactors will have their cores exposed and radiation poisoning will be widespread. But the number one problem for the living, will be the dead. The Great Earthquake’s purpose will be to throw open the world’s graves for the remains of the unsaved to be spilled out to be shamed in the eyes of God. Millions more will die during the quake, and millions will die every day until the end. These bodies won’t be buried and they will cause even more diseases, not to mention an awful stench everywhere. Not pleasant to contemplate, it will be even worse in the reality.

Sandra asks…

i sleep with my eyes open is this normal?

people have told me that i sleep with my eyes open. and when they see me asleep they say my eyes are white as if they are rolled back. is this normal? does everyone go through this? or what is this called so i can read up on it?

Helen answers:

It’s a good thing your eyes are rolled back but your eyes should be closed. It happens, just not common and not supposed to happen. My dogs sleep like that it looks scary. Nothing you can really do to make it go away. Heres the info on it this will take a long time…

Nocturnal Lagophthalmos (NL) is a condition in which the eyes do not completely shut when a patient falls asleep. Symptoms including a sense of dry eye upon awakening that can range from mild to quite severe. Patients can even experience spontaneous breakdown in the surface of the eye (the cornea), perceived as a significant foreign body sensation. Upon awakening the eye might also appear red, and there may be associated discharge or swelling. These symptoms might be present every morning or only a few mornings each month. Patients with NL have an elevated risk of suffering sleep apnea as well.

Risk factors for NL include the use of alcohol or sedatives prior to going to bed. Patients who are very nearsighted or who have cone-shaped corneas (keratoconus) are more often at risk. Patients who have suffered Bell’s palsy, stroke, or have conditions causing muscle weakness such as Myasthenia Gravis are also at elevated risk. Medical conditions that make the eyes protrude, such as Graves’ disease, or that cause scarring of the ocular surface such as might be seen in burn patients or patients suffering pemphigoid may develop lagophthalmos as well. Cosmetic surgery for droopy eyelids (a condition known as ptosis) and Botulinum Toxin injections for severe eyelid twitching (also called Blepharospasm) can also lead to NL.

Your eye doctor can often diagnosis NL based upon the history you provide and the appearance of damage to the surface of the eye, particularly the inferior cornea. In addition, your eye doctor might even ask you to relax in the exam room to see if your eyes close completely. Your might even be asked to request that your spouse quietly examine your eyes with a weak flashlight while you sleep to confirm whether NL is present.

The therapy for NL is directed at both the cause of the problem and the symptoms. In most cases, extra lubrication of the eyes before bedtime can be a great help. External eyelid weights (e.g., Med-Dev TM) which a patient can paste onto their own eyelids at night or even surgically implanted gold eyelid weights are available. Eye masks that provide gentle pressure (e.g., Tranquil-eyes TM) can help in milder cases, and even hypnosis has been reported to be useful. Novel surgeries that are available include the implantation of a spring into the eyelid (for severe cases) and cutting of a small muscle in the eyelid (Muellerectomy) for milder cases. It should be stressed that your eye doctor has a responsibility to help you and your family doctor explore the cause of the lagophthalmos; NL is a diagnosis made after other causes have been ruled out.

There is an entire branch of ophthalmology called oculoplastic surgery dedicated to the treatment of eyelid and facial skin disorders. The American Society of Ophthalmic and Plastic Reconstructive Surgery provides a website (www.asoprs.org)
