Why are Jesus and Krishna so similar?

Are they the same person?
Christ and Krishna were called both God and the Son of God
Both were god-men: being considered both human and divine. Both performed many miracles, including the healing of disease
Both cast out indwelling demons, and raised the dead
Both forgave his enemies. Both were crucified and both were resurrected

Are they?

In Hinduism, Krishna is believed to be the eighth avatar of Vishnu, the second aspect of the Hindu trinity. Almost every correlation between Krishna and Jesus can be traced to Kersey Graves, a 19th century author who believed Christianity was created from pagan myths. Though his works have been proven by scholars to be false and poorly researched , many still ignorantly refer to his arguments not knowing they are easily disproved by simply comparing the Bible to the Hindu texts.

THE DEFINITION OF KRISHNA Although many critics allege Krishna means Christ, Krishna in Sanskrit actually translates as Black (One) as Krishna was believed to have blackish-blue skin. The word Christ literally translates as Anointed One. When skeptics, in turn, spell Krishna as Chrishna or Christna, this is a blatant attempt to spread more misinformation and reinforce their erroneous theories.

THE CRUCIFIXION: Though critics claim Krishna was crucified, this is mentioned nowhere within the Hindu texts. Instead, we are told exactly how he dies: Krishna is mediating in the woods when he is accidentally shot in the foot by a hunter’s arrow. Skeptics really try to streeetch this one by claiming the arrow that shot Krishna impaled him to a tree, thus crucifying him. They also point out the similarity between his wound being in the foot and Jesus’ pierced hands and feet. However, if I was carving my initials into a tree and accidentally impaled my wrist, the idea of saying I was crucified would be absurd. This story relates more to the death of Greek mythology’s Achilles than anything else: “A fierce hunter of the name of Jara then came there, desirous of deer. The hunter, mistaking [Krishna], who was stretched on the earth in high Yoga, for a deer, pierced him at the heel with a shaft and quickly came to that spot for capturing his prey.” Mahabharata, Book 16, 4

THE RESURRECTION: Although critics claim Krishna descended into the grave for three days and appeared to many witnesses, no evidence of this exists whatsoever. Instead, the actual account says Krishna immediately returns to life and speaks only to the hunter by forgiving him of his actions: “He [the hunter] touched the feet of [Krishna]. The high-souled one comforted him and then ascended upwards, filling the entire welkin with splendour… [Krishna] reached his own inconceivable region.” Mahabharata, Book 16, 4

Some obvious
differences between the resurrections of Jesus and Krishna are as follows:

Jesus appeared to approximately 500 eye witnesses in the New Testament. Krishna appeared only to the hunter.

Jesus rose from the dead three days later. Krishna immediately returned to life.

Jesus did not ascend into Heaven until after the Great Commission. Krishna immediately “ascended” into the afterlife.

Jesus was aware of what was to take place. Krishna had no foreknowledge concerning his death.

Jesus ascended into a physical realm (Heaven). Krishna transcended into a mental state (or inconceivable region).

The concepts between Heaven (Christianity) and Nirvana (Hinduism) differ greatly.

Helen answers:

Graves Disease is a autoimmune disease of the thyroid where it’s secreting too many hormones, your body’s natural immune system is causing your thyroid to produce too much of a good thing. These hormones normally do things like increase your metabolism and your body heat, increase your mental activity and can improve muscle function to a certain point. But when you have an excess of these hormones, it can start messing things up in your body. So now your muscles will be too active and they’ll start getting tired, so she might start feeling too tired to move all the time, she might get hungry more often while getting things like diarrhea a lot, she will be more prone to anxiety and panic attacks and inability to sleep, worse case scenario she might start getting some eye problems (trouble closing her eyelid, eye infection) and some problems with her heart because her heart rate and the strength of contraction is too much.

But, luckily, it’s very treatable. They give you anti-thyroid drugs like polythiouracil and thiocyanates and basically deprive your thyroid of the chemical iodine (which it needs to make thyroid hormones). She can definitely still have kids if she takes the medicine. It’s not the best disease, but you can definitely live with it, it usually just means she’s going to need to take a pill everyday, or, if it still doesn’t work, then have part of her thyroid removed surgically.

Helen answers:

Why You Have Bags Under Eyes
Fluid Retention :

This generally means that body fluids have settled overnight in the eye area. Generally you can trace bags under eyes to activities of the previous day. Perhaps you drank to many fluids at bed time or ate salty foods. Usually the swelling subsides after a few hours and the fluid is re-absorbed by your body.

Allergic Reaction:

You had plenty of sleep but still wake up to puffy eyes. Bags under eyes can also be attributed to an allergic reaction. Perhaps you’re allergic to a food you ate or the feathers from your down pillow. Hormonal changes during menstruation also lead to puffy eyes.

Aging:

Yes, you are aging and your skin is not as it use to be. More permanent symptoms of bags under eyes is caused by normal aging. As you age, skin around the eyes becomes thinner and its elasticity weakens, causing underlying fat to bulge out.

Illness:

Be aware of the type of puffiness you have around your eye. If it resembles round pouches rather than puffiness it can be a sign of a thyroid condition known as Grave’s disease or a kidney problem.

Reduce Under Eye Bags
Although there are many causes for bags under eyes, you can deflate the puffiness! Here’s how:

1. Cold water

A splash of cold water will get your circulation moving so that fluids trapped in the eye release into the rest of your body. The cold water also reduces swelling.

2. Tapping

Lightly tap your upper and lower lids to nudge fluids away from the eyes. This also gets the fluids circulating to other areas in your body.

3. Spoon

Chill a spoon in the refrigerator and place it over your closed eyes for a few minutes. This reduces the swelling in your eye.

4. Tea bags

Moisten two tea bags and rest them over your closed eyes for 15 minutes. The tea helps tighten the skin and reduce bags under eyes.

5. Midol

Many symptoms during menstruation can cause under eye bags like fluid retention. If you retain water during your period, an over the counter product like Midol will help reduce puffy eyes.

6. Antihistamine

Under eye bags caused by allergic reactions can be alleviated with an antihistamine like Benedryl. If your eyes are puffy, red, and itchy, your under eye bags may be caused by an allergic reaction.

7. Concealer

This neat makeup trick works wonders to cover puffy eyes: Simply apply a darker shade of make up on your upper lid just below the brow to the crease. Next apply a lighter shade of concealer on the lower portion of the lid. Puffiness is less noticeable when you highlight the lower portion of the lid.

Helen answers:

An IUD is not the cause of any thyroid disease. The most common cause of thyroid disease is autoimmune disease. It sounds like you have Grave’s disease, which is one of the autoimmune causes of thyroid disease. But you need to be tested to get a definitive diagnosis. You need a TSI test.

What you are doing is committing post hoc ergo propter hoc.

Helen answers:

It might be “Mutiny on the Bounty” (1962), but I have grave doubts about the VD part and bankrupting a studio because we’re talking Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer!

From IMDb:
The film cost an estimated $19 million in 1962 (approximately $117 million in 2005 dollars), which was a huge expenditure at the time. (Lawrence of Arabia (1962), which had an even longer shoot – 17 months to eight months for “Bounty” – was brought in for approximately $5 million less). Though the film grossed about as much as it cost, it was considered a flop as MGM earned back only a little over half of the budget in rentals (the amount remitted to the studio from theaters). By contrast, “Lawrence” grossed twice as much as Bounty and generated more than twice the amount of rentals for its studio, putting it in profit.) Though some claim that the second “Bounty” film eventually went into profit with its sale to TV, films generally were sold in packages, so it is unlikely that the film ever stopped the flow of red ink on MGM’s books. The flop of this picture signaled the end of Marlon Brando’s grasp on super-stardom for an entire decade.

Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor were criticized in the mass media in 1963 for what was perceived as their part in causing the budgets of their epic films (“Mutiny on the Bounty” and “Cleopatra” (1963)) to balloon out of control. Aside from their paychecks ($1.25 million for Brando, with overages; a minimum of $1 million to Taylor, both record salaries for the time), the press claimed it was prima donna behavior on the part of the two stars that caused the resulting fiscal hardships at their respective studios, MGM and 20th-Century Fox. The truth is, although both films were costly and neither made a profit, “Cleopatra” cost more than twice what “Bounty” did (Taylor’s film cost $44 million approximately $270 million in 2006 dollars, making it the most expensive film ever made, when adjusted for inflation), and earned the studio only $26 million in rentals, generating a shortfall against budget of $18 million versus less than $10 million for the Brando picture. While MGM was hurt financially, “Cleopatra” caused Fox to fail. In his defense, Brando later pointed out that MGM charged the $500,000 paid in the mid-1930s to the book’s two authors to the budget of the remake, an example of creative accounting that makes Hollywood profit-and-loss statements highly suspect. Whatever the truth, the fact is that Brando’s star went into decline after “Bounty”, whereas Taylor went on to win a second Oscar and remained among the highest paid movie stars in the world throughout the decade of the 1960s.

Brando’s notorious on-set antics reached a pinnacle on this film. According to Peter Manso’s Brando biography, Brando had so much clout by this point that he got MGM to green-light virtually every outrageous idea he had. At one point, he pulled people off the film crew to decorate and design a friend’s wedding in Tahiti. Another time he had airplanes filled with cases of champagne, turkeys and hams flown to Tahiti for parties. The MGM built vessel was to be burned at the conclusion of the movie, as the historical ship had been: Marlon Brando said if they burned the ship he would not finish the film. A 40-foot model Bounty was constructed and burned instead.

I have a feeling that “Mutiny on the Bounty” is the film. Other than that, it would be “Apocalypse Now”, in which Brando has a very small role. Francis Ford Coppola went vastly over budget and past due dates, nearly sinking Zoetrope Studios, his own company.

Dr OZ said having hysterectomy removal of uterus only will shut down ovaries?

Do you think he is right? He also said that you will have a 50% increased chance of heart disease having a hysterectomy because when your ovaries shut down they wont produce estrogen which protects you from heart disease.

Helen answers:

Yes, it’s true that a significant percentage of women who have their uterus removed end up having their ovaries stop working within a few years. It’s also true that a much larger percentage of women have hysterectomies in the US than in Europe, for example. There might be problems, like fibroids, that CAN be treated by hysterectomy. So insurance approves the surgery and pays for it. Howeever, it may be that the fibroids could also have been treated without hysterectomy. In Europe, they might treat it without hysterectomy, while in the US they’ll just go straight for hysterectomy, which is much easier on the doctor, though harder on the patient. But the cost might be less for the hysterectomy than for the other procedure, or it could be around the same. So insurance approves it. Also, like, a woman might have a problem like endometrial dysplasia, let’s say. Sometimes hysterectomy is indicated, and sometimes not. The insurance company is not evaluating if the problem is grave enough to require surgery. They just say that since it’s sometimes needed, and the doctor says that it’s needed in this case, then they’ll approve it.

And yes, it’s true that if your ovaries stop working, that you will no longer be protected from heart disease.

Commonest cause is iodine deficiency. In addition it can be caused due to nodules in the thyroid, autoimmune diseases like hashimoto’s or grave’s disease. It may also be caused by drugs such as PAS, amiodarone and lithium. Thyroiditis, either infective or autoimmune, can also cause enlargement.

Helen answers:

What happens at death is no mystery to Jehovah, the Creator of the brain. He knows the truth, and in his Word, the Bible, he explains the condition of the dead. Its clear teaching is this: When a person dies, he ceases to exist. Death is the opposite of life. The dead do not see or hear or think. Not even one part of us survives the death of the body. We do not possess an immortal soul or spirit.

After Solomon observed that the living know that they will die, he wrote: “As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all.” He then enlarged on that basic truth by saying that the dead can neither love nor hate and that “there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in [the grave].” (Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10) Similarly, Psalm 146:4 says that when a man dies, “his thoughts do perish.” We are mortal and do not survive the death of our body. The life we enjoy is like the flame of a candle. When the flame is put out, it does not go anywhere. It is simply gone.

Helen answers:

“The actual truth is that there is no death. When a person seems to die, all that happens is that he leaves his body here and goes over onto the next plane, otherwise unchanged. He falls asleep here to wake up on the other side minus his physical body [which was probably more or less damaged] but enriched with knowledge that he has not really died”.
“There is absolutely no reason to fear death. The same God is on the other side of the grave as on this side, and the Bible tells us that God is Love………”

Can alcohol in excess cause elevated thyroid hormones?

Helen answers:

First of all, what people sometimes call thyroid hormones include two categories:

TSH, or thyroid stimulating hormone, is actually made in the brain. It’s job is to tell your thyroid to make hormone; a normal thyroid only makes thyroid hormone in response to this hormone coming from the brain. Much less often tested, TRH is another hormone in the brain that causes the release of TSH.
TSH is the “thyroid hormone” most often tested to screen for thyroid disease. TSH is high when the brain perceives there to be not enough thyroid hormone circulating, and it is low if thyroid hormone levels are too high.

T3, T4, fT3, and fT4 are all measures of actual hormones made in the thyroid; they are thyroid hormones. These are often only tested if TSH is abnormal, but some doctors test these even when TSH is normal.

In general, you will either have high TSH with low or normal (but low for you) T3 and T4, or else low TSH with high or normal (but high for you) levels of T3 and T4.

When TSH is elevated (hypothyroidism), the most common reason is autoimmune hypothyroidism, wherein white blood cells misguidedly attack the thyroid and it becomes unable to produce as much thyroid hormone as it should. However, iodine deficiency is a leading cause in some countries (thyroid hormone is made from iodine- T3 is the thyroid hormone that uses three molecules of iodine, and T4 is the thyroid hormone with four molecules of iodine). Non-autoimmune damage to the thyroid is also a possibility.

There is some evidence that drinking alcohol can cause reduction in T3 and T4 levels, but almost never into the abnormal range. Presumably some alcoholics are iodine deficient because they have a poor diet; that will cause an elevated TSH.

When TSH is low and T3 and T4 are elevated, the cause is Grave’s Disease 70% of the time. That is an autoimmune disease in which, because of autoimmune damage, the thyroid produces a maximum of thyroid hormone despite the lack of TSH (TSH in Grave’s disease is often zero). The remainder of cases are a grab bag of unusual causes, but I am not aware of alcohol ever causing this.

Only wearing gemstones will not change the way you look or gain you weight.

You need to get your chart fully analysed by a good astrologer and then go through the remedial measures. Exercise and good diet.

Yoga and good food intake will tone your body and strengthen your muscles.

When you chart is analyzed the planetary positions indicate harmonal problems. You may be suffering from hyper thyroidism which can cause graves disease.

Foods? That TSH is really HIGH! You need meds. You did not say if you are getting those. (Some think they can manage any health problems w/ diet changes).

You should also take Selenium, Folic Acid, D3, Zinc, and B Complex.

Here is some info:
You need testing for thyroid ANTIBODIES as well as TSH. TSH ‘norm’ should be .3 – 3 (w/ most feeling best at < 2) but, for diagnosis, may not mean much if ANTIBODIES are present which is indicative of Hashimoto’s Autoimmune Thyroiditis (cycles between HYPER & HYPO at start)…it is the main cause of eventual HypOthyroidism but worse (…OR Graves Disease – HypERthyroid from beginning).

WARNING: Doctors seem not to want to find/treat thyroid disease. You may have to go to more than one doctor before you get the right tests, interpretation, and treatment. Best wishes.

Helen answers:

Hypothyroidism will make it a little harder to lose weight, but not impossible. Continue your weight loss the same way as you would if your thyroid wasn’t an issue, cutting any corners or doing unhealthy things to promote weight loss will backfire badly, as any bad habit will upset your thyroid even more and make it even harder to lose weight. Just be sure to find the right treatment for your thyroid condition and keep up your normal exercise and diet regimen (do remember to eat right, as bad diets can have a big impact and even set you well on your way to *developing* hypothyroidism, let alone if you already have it).

3. Is undergoing chemical and other treatment to enable use as a necrophilic partner by Blair, Murdoch and others (or, of course, as an induction rite for Tory leaders).

What do you think? And which version do you suppose the vulgarian orang utans bussed in by local Conservative Associations to line London’s streets earlier this week and pelt the procession with flowers might prefer?
Back to the drawing board – that’s the trouble with you urban types, no sense of humour! Having heard a few such myths, for example those concerning Harold Wilson, Heath, certain attributes of both the IRA and British special forces, I can tell you that a belief in Option 1 is not much of an exaggeration when it comes to wishful thinking by those who aren’t too good at thinking!

OK, the others were tongue in cheek – or didn’t you realise that?

By the way, see if you can find a case of Pecharmant – very small appellation – Oddbins might possibly have one. Room temperature, and leave for an hour after opening. It might improve your outlook on life, and certainly beats any of your Islingtonian middle class alcopops!

There is a place near the Oregon coast called “The Valley of the Gods.” There are two ghosts there. Both of them were Amerind children. They were left with a Christian family when their parents became sick. Their parents promised to return for them. Both children became sick and died (smallpox) shortly after the parents left. I suspect the parents died of the same disease.

The children were partially converted to the Christian faith and, as such, have a convoluted concept of the afterlife. The boy is nearly gone. The girl was younger and so, had a lesser understanding of the afterlife. She is still corporeal enough to communicate They are both still waiting for their parents to return and are bound to the Valley of the Gods because their graves are there.

Aboriginal Australia – Jack Davis

To the Others
You once smiled a friendly smile,
Said we were kin to one another,
Thus with guile for a short while
Became to me a brother.
Then you swamped my way of gladness,
Took my children from my side,
Snapped shut the law book, oh my sadness
At Yirrakalas’ plea denied.
So, I remember Lake George hills,
The thin stick bones of people.
Sudden death, and greed that kills,
That gave you church and steeple.
I cry again for Warrarra men,
Gone from kith and kind,
And I wondered when I would find a pen
To probe your freckled mind.
I mourned again for the Murray tribe,
Gone too without a trace.
I thought of the soldier’s diatribe,
The smile on the governor’s face.
You murdered me with rope, with gun
The massacre of my enclave,
You buried me deep on McLarty’s run
Flung into a common grave.
You propped me up with Christ, red tape,
Tobacco, grog and fears,
Then disease and lordly rape
Through the brutish years.
Now you primly say you’re justified,
And sing of a nation’s glory,
But I think of a people crucified –
The real Australian story.

Helen answers:

Interest and belief in revenants surged in the Middle Ages in Europe. Though in most modern stories the classic way to become a vampire is to be bitten by one, that is a relatively new twist. In his book “Vampires, Burial, and Death: Folklore and Reality,” folklorist Paul Barber noted that centuries ago, “Often potential revenants can be identified at birth, usually by some abnormality, some defect, as when a child is born with teeth. Similarly suspicious are children born with an extra nipple (in Romania, for example); with a lack of cartilage in the nose, or a split lower lip (in Russia) … When a child is born with a red caul, or amniotic membrane, covering its head, this was regarded throughout much of Europe as presumptive evidence that it is destined to return from the dead.” Such minor deformities were looked upon as evil omens, and it is likely that many infants were killed immediately when these signs were discovered; those who survived grew up bearing the burden of public suspicion.

The belief in vampires stems from superstition and mistaken assumptions about post-mortem decay. The first recorded accounts of vampires follow a consistent pattern: Some unexplained misfortune would befall a person, family, or town — perhaps a drought dried up crops, or an infectious disease struck. Before science could explain weather patterns and germ theory, any bad event for which there was not an obvious cause might be blamed on a vampire. Vampires were one easy answer to the age-old question of why bad things happen to good people.

Villagers combined their belief that something had cursed them with fear of the dead, and concluded that perhaps the recently deceased might be responsible, having come back from the graves with evil intent. Graves were unearthed, and surprised villagers often mistook ordinary decomposition processes for supernatural phenomenon. For example, though laypeople might assume that a body would decompose immediately, if the coffin is well sealed and buried in winter, putrefaction might be delayed by weeks or months; intestinal decomposition creates bloating which can force blood up into the mouth, making it look like a dead body has recently sucked blood. These processes are well understood by modern doctors and morticians, but in medieval Europe were taken as unmistakable signs that vampires were real and existed among them.

Be careful. Very careful.
Moina 78 in her ignorance is recommending something which will elevate your problems to even higher levels.

Put Yourself on an Anti-Hyperthyroidism Diet!

Food is closely associated with any kind of disease, so you should not feel free to eat whatever you want, completely ignoring your health, or you will be at the risk of suffering from potential diseases. Excess consumption of refined, iodized salt is one of the major causes of hyperthyroidism and it’s a well-known trigger for Graves’ disease. Reducing the consumption of iodine is necessary for the following reasons: the relationship between iodine and thyroid function is complex, and excessive iodine has a complex disruptive effect on the thyroid and may cause either hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, in susceptible individuals, as well as increase the risk of thyroid cancer.

ANY !! Food high in iodine, such as kelp, jellyfish, seaweeds, and moss, should be eliminated from your diet. In addition, choosing foods with adequate carbohydrates and fats which function as protein will help with natural treatment.

Strong tea, coffee and tobacco should be avoided.

Some practitioners also recommend supplements natural treatment of hyperthyroidism which contain vitamins and nutrients such as riboflavin, lecithin and thiamine.

Helen answers:

The other advise is completely wrong. The only reason to take hyop thyroid medication is if you are hypothyroid.
Your TSH is
in the IDEAL TSH range, which is .3 to 2.5 or 3.
TSH will fluctuate.
If it goes below .3 and doesn’t come up, then you could be hyper thyroid.

EDIT: the guidlines changed to the ones above. The labs have not changed their references yet.(they don’t rush in and change all their paper work and forms just because a referance range or the range of something changes, doctors are expected to keep up with all that) Each lab result , on a lab form, also includes , to the side of it, the range. If you look up newest recommended range of TSH, you will find .3 to 3 Most say that yours is ideal.
Ask yourself what you are doing different in the last 2 weeks.
What can fluctuate the TSH, are stress, diet, what ever you injest/drink, drugs, metabolism raising food, etc.

Helen answers:

I have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and have had to ask my doctor about over-the-counter medications before, where almost anything with a stimulant is labled not for use for those with thyroid disease. He basically said that one doesn’t want to take large doses of Synthroid which will raise your metabolism and cause an increased heartrate with a stimulant as it could cause heart problems. Those with Grave’s Disease already have a rapid heart rate.

How long have you had hypothyroidism ? Believe me, I understand all too well about the weight not wanting to come off. You might need your medication dosage adjusted. All I am saying is that diet pills will kill your appetite and make you jumpy….but I don’t know how much good they will do you combating hypothyroidism. Unless you talking about some of the newer diet meds that won’t let your body absorb fat, I don’t know much about those except that one of the side effects is an ‘oily anal discharge’.

Unfortunately, there is no magic pill or medication that will make you feel or look like you used to….I wish that there was. You have to take everyday at a time and try push through the fatigue, self-doubt and depression at times.

You might want to get your triglyceride levels checked. High levels can be a side effect of hypothyroidism and getting medication for that will help you feel a bit better as well.

Keep an eye out for Diabetes as well….there is a chance that you could get either kind. Type I is an auto-immune disease where the pancreas is attacked and destroyed by your immune system and insulin production is interrupted; it most commonly occurs in children but can manifest at any time. Type II can occur when the triglyceride levels cause damage to the pancreas and insulin production is interrupted.

Point being, there are a lot of reasons why the weight won’t come off and a lot of reprecussions if you can’t…but sometimes it just isn’t your fault. Don’t let people make you feel bad about your self….do the best that you can….try to be healthy….talk to your doctor and you don’t like him or if you feel that he doesn’t listen to you, get a new doctor. Seriously.

Dieting and exercising not helping! Why not?

I am 18 years old, 5’6″, female, and this morning I weighed 201 lbs. As my New Years Resolution, I vowed to diet, exercise, and lose weight before I go to college in the fall.

I have been dieting ever since then. Not a super strict, “omg I ate a potato chip I need to go throw up” diet, I just keep track of my calories using the Lose It application on my iPod Touch. i keep junk food to a bare minimum, basically just a $.99 bag of Salt and Vinegar chips every once in a while, and some Hershey’s Kisses when I want chocolate. I eat fruit a lot (gosh I spend so much money on fruit!).

At the beginning of February, I finally found a gym I liked (Fitness USA) and I’ve been going anywhere from 4-6 days per week. My usual routine is 20-30 minutes on the Elliptical, 5 minutes sprint on the treadmill (running and me have never really gotten along, I get horrible cramps very easily, and get so tired so fast), then 10-20 minutes on a stationary bike. Every other time I go, I do a few weights, usually two sets of 15 reps on five or six different machines.

My problem? I HAVEN’T LOST ANY WEIGHT! I fluctuate between 200-205, and that’s it. I DO have a thyroid problem, but I take meds for that, and the doctor says everything with that is fine.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?! I’m determined not to give up, but it’s getting really hard! Any advice or help would be appreciated!
I have tried the Acai Berry, and I had absolutely no results, but thanks! I know different things work for different people. I actually used Green Tea pills a while back and lost 20 lbs, but they stopped working once my body got used to them and I eventually gained the weight back.

To Nate: Thank you for the advice! I will try to do more running, but for me it’s just always been really hard, even when I wasn’t overweight. (My DD breasts bouncing around and killing my back probably aren’t helping, no matter how many sports bras I wear!) As for the elliptical, I actually DO sweat a lot when I’m on it! And my gym has a pool, but it’s usually filled with old fat ladies just chilling, which is highly annoying considering it’s supposed to be used for swimming laps.
Oh, and my calorie budget is 1200 a day, and the Lose It app records that mixed with the exercises I do and I barely ever get anywhere near that number on the days I go to the gym.

If you only eat fruit and vegetables you probably will not get enough protein, iron, magnesium and a few other nutrients that you require and will probably get very sick. It could also increase your hunger and cause binges and decrease your energy levels to such a degree you will not be able to work out as planned. If you have anything in the disease line that you are susceptible to getting or catching, it will catch up to you and as a result could cause grave illnesses.

If you want to lose weight follow a standard diet with all the food groups, read all the labels and eat no less than 1200 calories a day for a female.

A standard diet is:

3 skim milks a day

4-8 servings of whole grains

10- servings of fruits and vegetables a day, especially green leafies and colorful varieties. Four ounces is a serving

2-3 protein servings a day

How to cope with Bipolar Disorder?

I may have developed bipolar disorder sometime within the past year (I’m 25). I go through periods of extreme emotional highs and extreme emotional lows. I haven’t talked to anyone about this, because I’m afraid of the negative stigma associated with bipolar disorder. Also, I already have Graves disease, and I know that can affect your mood too. But I feel like my symptoms sound more like bipolar disorder.

For now I’ve been sort of laying low whenever I’m in my low periods – “like a ghost” my friends tell me. But during my high periods I’m so confident and outgoing that it’s hard for people not to notice me. What sucks is sometimes people will want to talk to me during my low periods because they had fun with me during my high periods and I just end up blowing them off. It’s not on purpose. I literally cannot think straight when I’m in my low periods. I feel like my mind just goes to mush and I can’t think of anything clever to say or anything to say at all. I really don’t want people to think I’m crazy. At least, that was my plan originally. But this feat is much harder than I originally imagined.

If you suffer from bipolar disorder, what do you think I should do? I don’t have money for a shrink (I’m a law student and I’ve cut ties to my entire family), and I don’t want to develop a dependency on “feel-good” medication.

Also, what happened you told others that you were bipolar? Did people start to avoid you? (Keep in mind that I basically have no family so my friends are all I have, and I can’t have people avoiding me) Was it harder for you to meet new people because of the rumors that start to spread? Honestly, I wouldn’t want to make friends with someone with bipolar disorder. I don’t know why someone would. And I can’t stand people who pity me. I mean, give me some credit, I’ve paid for all my own stuff since I was 15 and I’m a law student.

Anyways, none of the info I found online seem to provide any solutions. I just want to get rid of it, or at least not let it affect my life. Is that even possible?

My son has bipolar and so I’ve researched into the cause of it, and I now believe one main factor is not getting enough direct sunlight in the day, and then darkness at night in the correct rhythm.
My son used to stay awake most of the night and sleep in the day and this made him worse. I’m convinced getting more sunlight over the long term (not just for a couple of days, but as a change of lifestyle) plus good sleep in a dark environment at night is one of the most simple and effective things you can do to improve.

Helen answers:

It is odd for someone to skip over HypOthyroidism & go straight to Hashi’s. It is, however, the main cause of HypO. Yes, there can be hot flashes. Likely to be cancer? NO!

Thyroid disease is missed more than found. Three reasons: 1) not checking for antibodies; 2) going by wrong TSH ‘normal’ range; and, 3) not listening to symptoms.

You need testing for thyroid ANTIBODIES as well as TSH. TSH ‘norm’ should be .3 – 3 (w/ most feeling best at < 2, like maybe ONE) but, for diagnosis, may not mean much if ANTIBODIES are present which is indicative of Hashimoto’s Autoimmune Thyroiditis (cycles between HYPER & HYPO at start)…it is the main cause of eventual HypOthyroidism but worse (…OR Graves Disease – HypERthyroid from beginning [different antibodies]).

You will have to INSIST they test for the antibodies. [anti-TPO and TgAb for Hashi’s] They can code so that ins will pay.

WARNING: Doctors seem not to want to find/treat thyroid disease. You may have to go to more than one doctor before you get the right tests, interpretation, and treatment. Best wishes.

Helen answers:

What was the forbidden fruit in Eden?
Eden’s fruit trees were all there for man to eat from “to satisfaction.” (Ge 2:16) But one tree, that “of the knowledge of good and bad,” was placed off limits for the human pair. Eve quoted Jehovah’s prohibition given to her husband as including even the ‘touching’ of the tree, with the penalty of death to result from disrespect for and violation of the divine law. (Ge 2:17; 3:3) Traditional teachings have attempted to explain the prohibited fruit in a variety of ways: as a symbol of sexual intercourse, represented by an “apple”; as standing for the mere cognizance of right and wrong; and as the knowledge attained upon reaching maturity and also through experience, which knowledge can be put to a good or a bad use. Yet, in view of the Creator’s command to “be fruitful and become many and fill the earth” (Ge 1:28), sexual intercourse must be rejected as being what the tree’s fruit represented, for in what other way could procreation and multiplication have been effected? The mere ability to recognize right and wrong most certainly cannot be meant, for obedience to God’s command required of sinless man that he be able to exercise such moral discrimination. Nor could the knowledge attained upon reaching maturity be meant, for it would not be sin on man’s part to reach this state, nor would his Creator logically obligate him to remain in an immature state.
As to the genus of the tree, the Scriptural record is silent. But it becomes apparent that the tree of the knowledge of good and bad symbolized the divine right or prerogative, which man’s Creator retains, to designate to his creatures what is “good” and what is “bad,” thereafter properly requiring the practice of that which is declared good and the abstention from that which is pronounced bad in order to remain approved by God as Sovereign Ruler. (See TREES.) Both the prohibition and the subsequent pronouncement of the sentence passed upon the disobedient pair emphasize the fact that it was the act of disobedience in eating the prohibited fruit that constituted the original sin.—Ge 3:3.
While some modern critics may balk at the very simplicity of the Edenic account, it should be obvious that the actual circumstances made a simple test most fitting. The life of the newly created man and woman was simple, not complicated and encumbered with all the complex problems, predicaments, and perplexity that disobedience to God has since brought to the human race. Nonetheless, for all its simplicity, the test succinctly and admirably expresses the universal truth of God’s sovereignty as well as man’s dependence upon God and his duty toward God. And it must be said that, while simple, the account of Eden’s events presents matters on an infinitely higher level than those theories that would place man’s start, not in a garden, but in a cave, representing him as both crudely ignorant and without moral sense. The simplicity of the test in Eden illustrates the principle stated millenniums later by God’s Son, that “the person faithful in what is least is faithful also in much, and the person unrighteous in what is least is unrighteous also in much.”—Lu 16:10.
Eden’s having this proscribed tree within it, however, was clearly not intended to serve as a thorn in the flesh of the human pair, nor was it so designated in order to raise an issue, or to serve as the subject for debate. If Adam and Eve had acknowledged God’s will in the matter and had respected his instructions, their garden home would have continued unmarred as a place of pleasure and delight. The record shows that the issue and debate over the tree, along with the temptation to violate God’s ordinance, were thrust upon mankind by God’s Adversary. (Ge 3:1-6; compare Re 12:9.) Adam and Eve’s exercise of their will, as free moral agents, in rebellion against God’s rightful sovereignty led to their loss of Paradise and the blessedness of its confines. Of even graver consequence, they lost the opportunity to partake of another of Eden’s trees, this one representing the right to life everlasting. Thus the account says that Jehovah “drove the man out and posted at the east of the garden of Eden the cherubs and the flaming blade of a sword that was turning itself continually to guard the way to the tree of life.”—Ge 3:22-24.

Do You Think A High Dose Of Adderall May Have Caused A Thyroid/Gland/Hormone Problem?

So I was stupid and some girl gave me 5 of her Adderall pills (100mg total) and I took them all at once. I was really depressed as my Father had suddenly passed away in April and my girlfriend of nearly 9 years left me just a month later. I had a few beers and a shot on top of the pills and really didn’t feel any effects until I got home at 3:00am. I of course could not sleep and was restless. I had no overdose symptoms though with the exception of a racing heart. Anyway, the next day I got up, though I don;t believe I actually slept, and got a 5 Hour Energy drink as I was pretty crashed but still pretty awake too. I went about my day as usual and I thought everything was going to be ok.

Then Sunday night, I had to poop and ended up getting a hemorrhoid which I had never experienced before. Wait…it get’s scarier. I went to the ER the next day as my thumbs were numb and tingly and I went online and read a bit about Adderall and that scared me pretty good. They did an EKG on me and the doctor assured me that all would be ok. With that I was stoked that everything would return to normal and I’d get a second lease on life…boy was I wrong. The next few weeks were pretty normal. My thumbs still tingled a bit and I would get these weird zap like feelings in my head but I carried on anyway and over the next few weeks I was able to go to work everyday, see some movies, go to a few dinners and even hooked up with this pretty girl at a bar. Life was gonna be alright, I thought.

Ok, here’s where everything gets weird and unexplainable. I was laying on my couch one night and I felt this weird feeling, it felt as though an energy of some sort ran down from the top of my head to the tips of my toes. Like this weird wave feeling. To top that off, I had a feeling like there was a liquid running down my neck, underneath the skin. I was driving home from work one night a few days later and felt this weird feeling (like a electrical sensation) over my head and face and all at once I seem to have lost most of my sense of smell and taste.

Over the course of the next few months a bunch of other symptoms came into play, although I don’t exactly know when they happened as I may just not have noticed them until later. Here is what is plauging my life and won’t seem to go away: I have lost the ability to sweat even the tiniest bit, I have blood in my nose everyday, I have lost feeling (have numbness) over most of my body, my index fingers are now numb and tingly, I also have very strange bowell movements, only urinate about once a day and my urine is foamy. My muscles ache, I have muscle spasms that can be seen underneath the skin over just about all of my body. My hair and nails have stopped growing totally and body hair falls off easily. Scrapes/cuts are taking a very long time to heal. My sense of smell is way off (especially when it comes to exaust/fume type smells) and my taste has diminished quite a bit. My hands fall asleep randomly, mostly at night, and sometimes lose my breath when trying to sleep. I’ve lost a ton of muscle tone in my legs and arms, my testicle sac is loose and my testicles themselves seem to be larger than before.

Add to that the lovely fact that I seem to now be impotent and I ask myself what is the point of living like this anymore? I had so much going for me before I made the mistake of taking these pills. By the way, I’ve been to several doctors, 6 different hospitals, a Neurologist, had a catscan and an MRI. Lots of blood work too and they can’t find anything! Even saw a psychiatrist about this because all my friends think it’s all in my head. What have I done to myself?! Could this really all have spawned from 100mg of Adderall just one time?! Any insight or helpwould be greatly appreciated. I just wanna get back to normal!
So in your opinion it is safe to say that there is no way in hell Adderall could have done this to me?

Helen answers:

What did the psychiatrist say to you, I can’t imagine he/she said nothing. Adderall doesn’t stay in the body for more than a few hours, and it’s main effects are on the dopamine system. The symptoms you describe are not common side effects of Adderall (outside of the insomnia for that one night) and don’t make sense one year out (or even a few weeks after). High doses of amphetamines (what Adderall is) are associated with the emergence of psychotic symptoms, which are a loss of contact with reality. Your weird feelings, unusual tastes/smells, and numbness sound like they could be psychotic in nature, especially if your friends think it’s all in your head and many different doctors have told you everything is fine, especially if your hair and nails really stopped growing and your hair is falling out, which seems like something a doctor would notice. If you have a family history of psychotic disorders like schizophrenia, or even if you just have a biological predisposition for it, you may have triggered a psychotic break. If not that, it seems like you’re reacting strongly to the negative life events that happened a year ago, and your body may be experiencing that distress for you so that you don’t have to think about it. This is called a somatoform disorder. You might find it helpful to speak with a licensed clinical psychologist who can sit down with you for awhile, get some more details from you, and give you some recommendations about what to do. They might recommend that you participate in some therapy to help you process the loss of your father and girlfriend, as well as help you deal with these unusual symptoms. They may also recommend another consultation with a psychiatrist with the information they gather to come up with a better solution for you than your previous psychiatrist. They may also recommend hospitalization to keep you safe if your thoughts about what the point of living is are serious enough that you’re a danger to yourself

Answer to followup: the thing about psychiatry and psychology is that you can almost never say something with 100% certainty, but it is highly unlikely that all of this is happening because of a one time consumption of a high dose of Adderall

Would medication that enhances cognition be a good idea?

I went to the doctor awhile back to check for possible ADD/ADHD. He gave me a single prescription for adderall. It turns out I don’t have ADD but while on the medication I got quite a lot of philosophical thoughts. Now, I’m not a “druggie.” I know that drugs can hurt the brain and I believe it isn’t good for people to be “floating around” all the time.

I did do a little research though to find out about those thoughts. They weren’t “trippy” thoughts like, “I can stop a car” or “hey man, the ocean would be so much better if it were pink.” I had genuinely interesting thoughts on life and society. Like, I wanted to sit down and write a book. Normally I never want to write a book.

I read cognition means “process of thought.” Would it be a good idea(or even possible) to create a medication whose soul purpose is to enhance/stimulate the thought process? Or do they already have one? O.o

Stimulants can be dangerous, and you should be extra careful with any drug which by nature effects cognition.

I have read that these drugs tend to increase the ability to do repetitive and memory tasks, but go check out the abstract at the link below. It does not help high functioning people as much as it helps low functioning people and it might stifle creativity in those already functioning at high levels.

Another drug I have heard alot about is provigil- which was developed for narcolepsy but is approved for shift worker sleep disorder and a host of off label uses. It decreases the need for sleep and improves cognitive ability to a lesser extent, but it seems like hair loss is a pretty common side effect.

Bummer, huh?

could these symptoms be related? please read… thank you!?

i just want to know if these things could all be related.

background info: i’m taking 30mg of Adderall in the morning due to severe ADHD. switched off of Vyvanse for ADHD because it wasn’t working. i moved right before the school year started, to a new town and school.

1) since like last week, my eyes have been wicked bloodshot. i’m not on drugs or anything like that, so please don’t suggest that, ha ha!

2) i am never hungry, like ever. this has been happening since August probably. i try and try to force myself to eat, and when i do, i have like sharp stomach pains. i even had an episode at swim team practice a few months ago where i couldn’t swim, due to the fact that i hadn’t eaten that day. some days, all i’ll eat is like a few bites at dinner, and only to make my parents happy. i’ve been really dizzy too, i’m assuming that this is related to the appetite.

3) hair pulling. this is weird/gross, sorry. this has been happening for a long time, don’t remember specifics, but maybe since the loss of appetite thing started. it’s super annoying, and i’m constantly doing it. i don’t know why i do it, but people make comments on it all of the time. i like play w/ a few strands, and if one just feels “weird” i yank it. gross, sorry.

4) i’ve been feeling like really down lately. last year in school, i was constantly talking and laughing, but now in school, i just sit there and don’t ever talk. even at lunch, i’m the quiet one. i come home from school, and crawl into bed and don’t ever feel like leaving my bed.

5) really bad headaches. just random headaches, they feel like so much pressure on my head, and then my head will throb.

sorry that was so long, i’d really appreciate anything POSITIVE you have to say in response. oh, and i have gone on WebMd and looked at these symptoms as well… not very helpful, ha.

thank youu!
would a history of self injury have anything to do with this?

Helen answers:

I suggest talking with your doctor to switch your medication. Adderall can work as an upper, and it sounds like you’re suffering from the side effects of an amphetamine. When you get super-quiet and just want to sleep, it sounds like your body is coming off the main high.

However, the “upper” quality of the medication is probably what is killing your appetite, causing the hair pulling, etc.

You may just be sensitive to one of the ingredients in this medicine. Again, best bet is to call your doc.

What could be causing all of my health problems? Any Doctors? Please?

I know it’s long, but please read all of this! I really need advice! The information is crucial!

I’ve been suffering from a few health problems for YEARS but I’ve gotten so used to them that I don’t know if it’s a cause for emergency or not.

1. Ever since I got my period when I was 13 years old, I’ve been irregular. I’m 20 now and I’m still irregular. I thought that over the years, I would become regular but it hasn’t happened. When I was 15, I suffered quietly through 5 months of menstruation which ranged from heavy to light but it was a constant bleeding. Now, I go about 3-5 months without a period and when I finally do get it, it lasts for a minimum of 2 weeks.

2. I’ve been put on Adderall 2 months ago to control my ADHD. It suppresses my hungry and makes me nauseous when I think about food. I try to eat for energy but can only manage one medium sized meal. If I eat any more than that, my stomach hurts, hurts, hurts so bad! I’ve been eating less than 800 calories and I’ve been gaining weight. When I wasn’t on Adderall, I started eating 1,500-2,000 calories a day and I gained 30 pounds in 3 months.

3. I barely drink any water because I never feel thirsty. I usually drink about 8 oz a day, the most it gets to is 16 oz. I don’t drink any pop or juices. Though I barely drink anything, I urinate extremely often. I have a gulp of water when I get up, pee, go to school, make it through my first class, pee, 10 minutes later in my next class, my bladder will feel like it’s bursting already! So I pee again and 10 minutes later I have to pee again. Sometimes I pee around 8 times in less than 2 hours.

4. I’ve been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety for no real reason… I have a perfect family, perfect boyfriend, perfect friends. But I can’t but feel depressed all of the time with constant thoughts of hurting myself.

5. This is extremely embarrassing but I have some facial hair. I know people say it’s normal, but I feel like it’s a little bit too visible on me. My upper lip, cheeks and chin aren’t COVERED in hair but you can definitely see them. I’m of Asian descent and I heard we are supposed to be “hairless.” Also, around my nipples, I have around 20 hairs that range from a few mm to almost a whole cm in length. It’s very embarrassing.

6. My feet and hands are always cold. And I mean COLD. I’m pretty sensitive to cold weather.

7. I don’t know if this is relevant but the hair on my head and my nails grow extremely fast. I’ve heard people say this was due to a high protein diet but I’m a vegetarian and I barely consume ANY protein at all. I have to clip my nails once every week to avoid having nasty claws. And no matter how much I cut my hair, it always grows out. I’ve grown so tired of having to cut it that I’m just letting it grow out and it’s down to my butt now.

8. I always get extremely dizzy EVERY SINGLE TIME I stand up and when I get out of the shower.

I really appreciate anyone who has read all of this. I know I should go to the doctor, but trust me, I have. I went to one who just put me on birth control to regulate my periods until the birth control gave me a blood clot the size of my fist. He then took me off and didn’t give me any more treatments. Never told me what was wrong with me. The second doctor I went to just called me fat and told me to lose weight. (He literally called me fat… not overweight, not obese. Fat.)

I’m 5’1″ and currently 128 pounds. I used to be a healthy 105-110 lbs, gained 30 pounds to 140 lbs and I worked my ASS off to lose 12 pounds which took me over 5 months. Now, I am gaining weight back even though I barely eat.

I don’t know if all of this is relevant but I thought that I should give as much information as possible. I want a better insight on what could be happening to me so that when I go to the third doctor, I’ll have a little knowledge.

THANK YOU.

Helen answers:

It seems like there is a strong chance you have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. One of the main indicators is irregular periods. It can also be accompanied by hirsutism, which is basically hair growing in dark in places you don’t want it to (commonly occurs around the navel in PCOS patients). PCOS can also cause weight gain, often for no known reason, make it difficult to lose weight, and can cause changes in blood pressure (most often elevated, though judging by your dizziness and cold extremities, you probably have low blood pressure). It can also often be accompanied by depression and cause elevated insulin levels and diabetes, which may explain why you go to the bathroom so often despite not drinking a lot (diabetic patients tend to need to urinate much more frequently).

If you have PCOS you do not ovulate regularly. This is why your periods do not come regularly and last much longer than they should. Menstruation does not typically line up with ovulation in PCOS patients.

The trouble comes with diagnosis and treatment. Diagnosis of PCOS used to be done by checking for cysts on the ovaries in a pearl necklace pattern by ultrasound. However, studies have shown that not all PCOS patients have this pattern. Some don’t even have ovarian cysts! PCOS is a hormone balance disorder at its root. The ovaries usually produce too many male hormones (androgens) which cause the symptoms. Usually, doctors will take blood and test for different hormone levels. Most of the hormones they are testing for should be in the normal range for PCOS patients, since they are testing those hormones to see if it is something more serious (like cancer). However, one important test to look at is your LH to FSH ratio which will be higher than 1:1 in PCOS patients. Yet, most doctors will not diagnose PCOS unless the ratio reaches 2:1 or, sometimes, 3:1. Another important thing to look at is your total and free testosterone levels. In PCOS patients, these are often elevated, though sometimes one will be elevated and not the other.

Once diagnosed, the most doctors will be able to do is treat the symptoms. Birth control is the best method of treatment, though it may take time to find the proper balance of hormones to work with your particular hormone imbalance. If you have PCOS, NEVER go on a hormone IUD (like Mirena) because they will often increase PCOS symptoms. When you are at a point to want children, it is also extremely difficult. PCOS can cause infertility (not being able to get pregnant for at least a year), and most women don’t get diagnosed until they are ready to have children. A doctor will usually wait to put you on fertility medication for at least a year of trying to conceive (even with a diagnosis of PCOS). Yet, many PCOS patients do manage to give birth to healthy children with little to no problems for their own bodies.

When a person has PCOS doctors often encourage them to lose weight (even just 10% of their total weight) as it can reduce symptoms. However, one of the symptoms of PCOS is difficulty losing weight. Some doctors may prescribe a weight loss pill, but it may have serious side effects and should not be taken if you have any current plans to become pregnant. No doctor should have ever referred to you as fat. Find a different doctor and ask them to give you the tests for PCOS and don’t take “no, just lose weight” for an answer.

I hope this helps!

Can hyperthyroidism cause permanent male infertility if properly treated?

Hi everyone,
I’ve been doing some research and I think my husband has hyperthyroidism. We’ve been TTC for almost 2 years and I think this could be a possible reason why we have yet to achieve a pregnancy. My husband has an appointment with his doctor on Friday of this week, hopefully they’ll check his thyroid and we’ll have some answers as to whats going on. Anyway, this brings me to the question, if hyperthyroidism is treated will his sperm count and mobility increase or will this be a permanent condition? Thanks for your thoughts and any webpages. I’ve been googling for over an hour an cannot find a study or information based on males.

Here are links but also other info to tell him:

+10 BEST ANSWER!! Thyroid issue?

I have been through the worse 2 years of my life!!! when i was pregnant with my second child i had emotion issues like crazy! I always fought with my boyfriend and cried all the time and would flip out over nothing… 2 years later i knew i had a problem so i went to my OBGYN thinking i had depression she checked my throat and noticed it was a little larger. I had a blood test done and found out I had a high thyroid. I went to the doctor who specialises in thyroid issues and we found out that i have a thyroid disease where if i stop taking pills i will eventually die from organs shutting down. my sympotoms were
* feeling cold all the time
* mood swings
* weight gain / just a little for me though… still size 1 just look thicker…
* fatigue/ sleepy all the time
* lack of energy
* and much more…. I finally got on my pills and i am feeling better some days… only some days though. i still am very tired, fatigue, and mood swings sometimes but its getting better… how long does it take to have the medicine work? i have my 2 month apointment in june and i just can not wait to be back to my old self again… can you please give me a life experience that you faced through this? i also quit my birth control hoping my hormones would go back to normal.. thanks!

Helen answers:

I have Graves Disease which is an autoimmune disease that attacks the Thyroid causing it to be Hyperactive. I have a lot of the same symptoms, cold a lot, mood swings, weight loss for me, really tired, vision problems etc. If you are still feeling tired it is probably your medication still hasn’t balanced your TSH Levels. They had me taking Propylthiouracl twice daily and I still felt so tired I couldn’t pry myself off of the couch. A blood test revealed my TSH levels were still too low and they upped my medication to three times daily and now I have more energy then I know what to do with. Also try exercising, I know it is super hard to get into it when you feel so drained but it seems like the more exercise I do the more energy I get, I think it somehow helps level out the TSH levels.

Your doctor should have you do regular blood tests to check your Thyroid hormone levels so they know they are right and are able to adjust your dosage according to them. If your still feeling super tired it means your medication needs adjusted, I would call them and let them know that and see if you can’t go in for some blood work early.

Also how much did your baby weigh? I knew I had Thyroid Disease for years but when I got pregnant with my third child the OB couldn’t figure out why my other two children came out so underweight. That is when they realized I had Graves Disease which will make your babies come out small. My first 2 were 5 lbs 7 oz and 5 lbs 5oz. After being put on medication mid pregnancy with the third she came out 6 lbs 9 oz.

● Does a substantial health danger justify having an abortion?

[Footnotes]
Sometimes the treatment of a diseased condition, such as cancer of the cervix, causes the death of the developing embryo. But this may be an unavoidable side effect of the treatment; abortion is neither the treatment itself nor the objective. Similarly, in some cases a fertilized ovum implants and begins to grow in the fallopian tube instead of the uterus. Such a tubal ectopic pregnancy cannot develop fully in this small tube; in time it will terminate with the rupture of the tube and the death of the embryo. If this condition is detected in advance, doctors usually treat it by removing the affected fallopian tube before it ruptures. A Christian woman with a tubal pregnancy can decide whether to accept this operation. Normally she undoubtedly would be willing to face any risks of pregnancy so that her child could live. But with a tubal pregnancy she faces a grave risk while there is no possibility that the embryo can continue to live and a child be born.

Hair loss due to the IUD or is it something else?

I am a mother of two. I had my first daughter in March 2011 and got pregnant again 6 months later. My 2nd was born in July ’12. In September I got an IUD (mirena) placed. About 2 weeks later my hair started falling out. I can run my hand through my hair and 10-20 strands come out. It’s even worse while washing my hair. A found a lot of forums with women saying they experienced major hair loss on the IUD. I went to my doctor in Nov to have it removed. She assured me that it was not my IUD, could not be my IUD, and it’s post partum shedding that is just worse since my pregnancies were close. She then tested my thyroid to be safe. My levels were elevated just a little and my regular doctor gave me medication, which he wasn’t going to until I mentioned my OB wanted me on it. But even on the lowest dose I have severe insomnia and increased appetite (a sign of taking too much). So I stopped taking it. My regular doctor told me that thyroid levels go up and down a bit after pregnancy so I don’t think my hair loss is really my thyroid. Because why did I have NO problems until 2 weeks after IUD insertion? Has anyone else experienced this amount of hair loss after a pregnancy or IUD?

Vaccinations or meds can’t change a physical trait.

Some people are just born with eyes that tend to protrude a bit more than normal , sometimes it can be caused by Graves Disease, it can also be caused by thyroid problems.

So, it depends on the cause. Sometimes the bulging will lessen if it is caused by a treatable condition like thyroid problems that can be controlled.

Helen answers:

It’s possibly a thyroid problem like Graves disease.

Graves’ Disease is associated with swelling of the tissue around the eyes, exhibiting an appearance of bulging or protruding eye(s). It is a type of autoimmune disease that causes over-activity of the thyroid gland (hyperthyroidism).

This high level of thyroid hormones may cause weight loss, rapid heart rate and nervousness. Or in some cases no symptoms at all.

Graves’ disease can be caused by:

heredity
your age
even stress
sex hormones
your body’s immune system

Helen answers:

Glassy eyes causes, usually, happen to be other medical conditions. However, leaving aside these, there is are some non-medical factors as well. This is about the habit of not blinking the eyes too often, in some people. Due to this, what happens is, eyes tend to become dry and kind of lifeless and show the symptoms, which I have cited above. It is also common among heavy drinkers to have glassy eyes types of an ailment. But, the symptoms disappear, once they are sober again. Now comes the point where I would let you know about the medical factors which tend to become the glassy eyes causes. One common condition is Graves’ disease. Also, viral infections such as conjunctivitis i.e. Pink eye causes more tearing in the eyes, which eventually may render the eyes to take a glassy appearance. People with shingles or chickenpox are also the ones who suffer from this condition.

Glassy eyes causes may also be related to the development of a condition known as hypoglycemia, which, apart from causing other sets of symptoms, may also manifest in the form of this condition, we are talking about. Not only medical conditions may get the eyes to become shiny or glassy, but also certain medications can do the same. These medications are the ones which have a tendency to depress the central nervous system. This in turn, keeps the person from blinking too often, which is, as mentioned earlier, happens to be a cause of this illness.

Helen answers:

The reason why your immune system would not fight at all: people who are immune depressed. They have minimal ability to fight disease. People that would have a depressed immune system are:
People receiving Chemotherapy, people who have HIV, people who take immunosuppressive drugs; organ transplant patients and patients who have a history of autoimmune diseases who are taking medication to suppress their immune system so they can control their disease.
Is it possible for your body to be attacking itself.
Yes, these are the groups of diseases that are called Autoimmune Diseases. In order to control the bodies attack on itself, these people are placed on autoimmune medications that suppress the immune system….therefore leaving them somewhat exposed to disease. It’s a balance between fighting outside diseases and fighting your bodies own response. Some Autoimmune Diseases are:
*Alopecia areata (Al-uh-PEE-shuh AR-ee-AYT-uh)
The immune system attacks hair follicles (the structures from which hair grows). It usually does not threaten health, but it can greatly affect the way a person looks.
*Antiphospholipid (an-teye-FOSS-foh-lip-ihd) antibody syndrome (aPL)
A disease that causes problems in the inner lining of blood vessels resulting in blood clots in arteries or veins.
*Celiac disease
A disease in which people can’t tolerate gluten, a substance found in wheat, rye, and barley, and also some medicines. When people with celiac disease eat foods or use products that have gluten, the immune system responds by damaging the lining of the small intestines.
*Diabetes type 1
A disease in which your immune system attacks the cells that make insulin, a hormone needed to control blood sugar levels. As a result, your body cannot make insulin. Without insulin, too much sugar stays in your blood. Too high blood sugar can hurt the eyes, kidneys, nerves, and gums and teeth. But the most serious problem caused by diabetes is heart disease.
*Graves’ disease (overactive thyroid)
A disease that causes the thyroid to make too much thyroid hormone.
*Guillain-Barre (GEE-yahn bah-RAY) syndrome
The immune system attacks the nerves that connect your brain and spinal cord with the rest of your body. Damage to the nerves makes it hard for them to transmit signals. As a result, the muscles have trouble responding to the brain.
*Hashimoto’s (hah-shee-MOH-tohz) disease (underactive thyroid)
A disease that causes the thyroid to not make enough thyroid hormone.
*Hemolytic anemia (HEE-moh-lit-ihk uh-NEE-mee-uh)
The immune system destroys the red blood cells. Yet the body can’t make new red blood cells fast enough to meet the body’s needs. As a result, your body does not get the oxygen it needs to function well, and your heart must work harder to move oxygen-rich blood throughout the body.
*Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (id-ee-oh-PATH-ihk throm-boh-seye-toh-PEE-nik PUR-pur-uh)
A disease in which the immune system destroys blood platelets, which are needed for blood to clot.
*Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
A disease that causes chronic inflammation of the digestive tract. Crohn’s (krohnz) disease and ulcerative colitis (UHL-sur-uh-tiv koh-LEYE-tuhss) are the most common forms of IBD.
*Inflammatory myopathies (meye-OP-uh-theez)
A group of diseases that involve muscle inflammation and muscle weakness. Polymyositis (pol-ee-meye-uh-SYT-uhss) and dermatomyositis (dur-muh-toh-meye-uh-SYT-uhss) are 2 types more common in women than men.
*Multiple sclerosis (MUHL-tip-uhl sklur-OH-suhss) (MS)
A disease in which the immune system attacks the protective coating around the nerves. The damage affects the brain and spinal cord.
*Myasthenia gravis (meye-uhss-THEEN-ee-uh GRAV-uhss) (MG)
A disease in which the immune system attacks the nerves and muscles throughout the body.
*Psoriasis (suh-REYE-uh-suhss)
A disease that causes new skin cells that grow deep in your skin to rise too fast and pile up on the skin surface.
*Rheumatoid arthritis (ROO-muh-toid ar-THREYE-tuhss)
A disease in which the immune system attacks the lining of the joints throughout the body.
*Scleroderma (sklair-oh-DUR-muh)
A disease causing abnormal growth of connective tissue in the skin and blood vessels.
*Sjögren’s (SHOH-grins) syndrome
A disease in which the immune system targets the glands that make moisture, such as tears and saliva.
*Systemic lupus erythematosus (LOO-puhss ur-ih-thee-muh-TOH-suhss)
A disease that can damage the joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, and other parts of the body. Also called SLE or lupus.
*Vitiligo (vit-ihl-EYE-goh)
The immune system destroys the cells that give your skin its color. It also can affect the tissue inside your mouth and nose.

The answer is C but there is more involved. The US Army wanted to wipe out all the Indians and their resistance.
They did not consider them humans, but something lower. This is one of the saddest chapters of US history because there were also other massacres.
There was constant tension between the native occupants of the land and the US Army, and the immigrants. Their cultures were totally different, had competing aims and differing values. This could only lead to grave trouble. In many cases it led to diseases, extinction, and outright domination of the Indians and seizure of American Indian properties.
They machine-gunned women, children, and older people in other words, non-combatants while they were sleeping. I hope this helps!

Helen answers:

They don’t go to Heaven or Hell

This is the truth about Hell.
#1. Hell as you may know it,(fiery place of torment) is not a real place.
The Hebrew word for hell is “Sheol” and the Greek word is Hades, our english equivalent is Hell these three words are not referring to a place of fiery torment but of the common grave of all mankind.
To justify this statement we must look to the Bible. Eccl. 9:5, 10 reads…”The living are conscious that they will die as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all….All that your hand finds to do, do with all your might for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol (hell) the place to which you are going. (If they are conscious of nothing, they obviously feel no pain.)

#2. If God is love how then could Hell (fiery place of torment) Exist?
What would you think of a parent who held his child’s hand over a fire to punish a child for wrong doing? God is love. Would he do what no right-minded parent would do?

#3. At Romans 6:23 The bible says ” The wages of sin is death” keep that in mind, I’ll come back to it.
If I take a piece of paper and tear it to pieces with a little tape or glue I could put the piece of paper back together again. If I set the paper on fire there is no way I could repair it, it would be eternally destroyed. This is the meaning of the Fiery hell in the bible, it is not a place of eternal torment but a place of eternal destruction, it is the grave. When an individual dies they have the hope of a Resurrection. Some who have died will be resurrected to a day of judgment, some will not; they will remain in the grave forever eternally cut off from the presence of God, with no hope of eternal life in paradise. So as you can see the wages of your sin is for you to die not to be tormented by being eternally burned alive.
Also, did you notice that of the 9 times in the bible when someone was resurrected they never claimed to have been in Heaven or Hell?
The earth is a perfect creation of God’s why would he destroy His perfect creation and take all “good christians” to heaven?

“The meek shall inherit the earth and dwell upon it forever.” (Psalms 37;9,11,29)
This is what the bible says, is this a contradiction or have people just misinterpreted the scriptures and think that they are all going to Heaven?
John 3:13 says “Moreover NO man has ascended into heaven but He that descended from Heaven.”

The earth is the home of humans. When the bible spoke of a new heaven and a new earth it was referring to a new earthly people not a new physical earth. Ecclesiastes 1:4 …” A generation is going, and a generation is coming but the earth is standing forever.”
Psalms 37:11…”but the meek ones themselves will possess the earth…”
God created the earth for humans to live, why would he take this earth and destroy it? It would be a perfect place for humans to live if there was no war, sickness, famine, disease, crime, wickedness, hatred or death right?
That is the plan for Earth… For all humans to live in peace and to live forever on earth, our home. Everything we love and live for, all of the things humans enjoy, are all here on earth. Our families, food, sex (which God created not only for procreation but also for pleasure), and the beauty of the earth which we enjoy every day. How much more beautiful and enjoyable would this earth seem to us if all wickedness was wiped away? Would you even want to go to heaven? Your dead loved ones will even be brought back to life! I would much rather live here on earth under those conditions than any place else.

Does it make sense to ask to be granted escape from suffering by being sent to a place of GREATER suffering?

Would it make sense that if you were in prison, serving a short sentence in a medium security prison, you would ask to be able to escape that sentence by being sent to a maximum security prison for life? Of course not.

Well…then … why would it make sense that Job would ask to escape his tremendous but temporary suffering by being sent to a place of greater, eternal suffering?

Job 14:13 (English Standard Version (©2001)

Sheol actually means “place of the dead”…other translations have it put as “the grave” or as “death” in stead of sheol.

He was in so much suffering after loosing all that he had, having all of his children killed and having such a hidious and painful disease that he was simply saying to God that he wished he was dead.

Helen answers:

Senthil ji, yes in some cases that is true. Thiru Bala gave an perfect example, treatment to Cancer is worse than the disease itself. Probably our country with growing population can become # 1 stem cell donor and treatment facility to the world. All they have to do is collect (with parents permission) umbilical cord blood which could supply the same kinds of blood-forming (hematopoietic) stem cells as a bone marrow donor.

Some serious illnesses (such as certain childhood cancers, blood diseases, and immune system disorders) require radiation and chemotherapy treatments to kill diseased cells in the body. Unfortunately, these treatments also kill many “good” cells along with the bad, including healthy stem cells that live in the bone marrow.

Depending on the type of disease and treatment needed, some children need a bone marrow transplant (from a donor whose marrow cells closely match their own). Blood-forming stem cells from the donor are transplanted into the child who is ill, and those cells go on to manufacture new, healthy blood cells and enhance the child’s blood-producing and immune system capability.

After cord-blood collection has taken place, the blood is placed into bags or syringes and is usually taken by courier to the cord-blood bank. Once there, the sample is given an identifying number. Then the stem cells are separated from the rest of the blood and are stored cryogenically (frozen in liquid nitrogen) in a collection facility, also known as a cord-blood bank.

This could be the life saver for the kid and their future generation, we need to do is educate people about this and have high tech storage facilities in many states/cities to help everyone.

My friends mom was diagnosed with Lukemia recently and she went through Chemo-Therapy, lost her body immunity etc… Later she recovered and last month they found the Lukemia back in her body. She said, I am not going to go through this crap and she is enjoying every moment of her life, with family, friends and relatives. You won’t believe this she infact picked up her tombstone for her grave with nice engravings. Some people thought she is gone nuts, I think she understood and accepted the fact of life easily than anyone else.
